Being a student at a French school in Mexico was always an interesting experience for me, because even though I was in my home town, I was never "fully Mexican". Most of my life revolved around French culture, languages, and just different cultures in general, so even though I still carry my Mexican heritage I couldn't label myself as just one thing.
Once you become an "international person", it's like you're from nowhere and everywhere at the same time. You're a constant foreigner. I guess this is why I named this blog "Waking up To a Stranger". Ever since I can remember, my days have involved constant movement, making my brain jump from one culture to another, one language to another, and just adapt constantly without me even noticing. And to me that's just life in general. Everyday, you wake up to the unknown ; new day, new tasks, new experiences, kind of like meeting a stranger. You never really know what the day can bring, even if it is completely planned, which is fascinating to me, and that's why I'm starting this: A space for everyone to share their stories and views on life, as we try and meet a stranger every day! |
